Clean Sweep Day February
4, 2006
On a beautiful sunny Saturday, more than
75 volunteers met at the Hollywood Neighborhood City Hall. Lydia
Milar, Chair of the Beautification Committee, had worked for weeks
in preparation with our Senior Lead Officer John Washington, and
our Triple “E” Program Coordinator, Chris Wood, to prepare
everything for this day. (read more)
The parking lot filled with the yellow Hollywood
Beautification Team t-shirts, adults and teens in bright green from
the LA Conservation Corp, and the contrasting white of the Clean Sweep
Tees made by CHNC and given to the parents and children from the Police
Activities League, the Hollywood Recreation Center and the neighborhood.
Even our CD 4 Field Deputy Eric Sanjurjo joined in.
The teams eagerly fanned out into the neighborhood,
taking on different sections of the CHNC. When they returned hours
later, it was clear that they had been working hard. The spread of
fruit and pizza was gratefully inhaled while the crowd waited patiently
as an emergency run was made to Dominos for seconds.
All in all it was a great
day, especially when folks asked “When can we do it again!!” Thank
you to everyone who worked to make the day a success. Your community
appreciates you!
