About the PLUM Committee
The P.L.U.M. Committee is responsible for hearing all issues pertaining to the construction of new structures or the modification of existing ones. P.L.U.M. provides a forum and facilitates public discussion and input on individual projects and general policy decisions re-shaping Hollywood’s landscape. Its goal is to encourage innovative and responsible land use planning that improves Hollywood for all current and future stakeholders, including residents, businesses, workers, and the City as a whole. P.L.U.M. is an advisory committee to the CHNC Board, which has sole authority over final recommendations to the Dept. of City Planning and City Council.
P.L.U.M. hears presentations by developers for proposed new housing or commercial construction, and requests for licenses for the sales of alcoholic beverages. It then recommends these proposals for approval, modification, or rejection by the Board. Frequently, its recommendations entail actions or are informed by other City departments, including LAPD Hollywood Division. It also hosts forums on rezoning.
P.L.U.M. recognizes that the redevelopment of Hollywood has social and economic impacts, and that ongoing transformations occur in context of cultural and historic resources that must be preserved. P.L.U.M.’s guiding principles encourage excellent architecture and design that is sustainable, transit-oriented, pedestrian-friendly, and compatible with existing and developing uses in the areas within CHNC and Hollywood as a whole.
